Alexander Aizenstatd is a Guatemalan lawyer with a Master´s degree from Yale Law School. In addition to practicing law in Guatemala he has been admitted to the practice of law in the State of New York and is active in the New York State Bar Association´s International Chapter. He specializes in commercial matters, international investment, arbitration, constitutional law, impact litigation, regional integration and international law. He is also a Professor of International Economic Law at Universidad Rafael Landivar Law School and of Economics at Universidad del Istmo Law School. His professional experience also includes being admitted as a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for International Law in Germany and a Visiting Professional Attorney at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. Mr. Aizenstatd has protected the legal interests of foreign investors in Guatemala for many years and can prepare documents and contracts in English or Spanish. He has also written extensively and has been published in the ILSA Journal of International and Comparative Law, Revista General de Derecho Europeo, Max Planck Encyclopedia of Public International Law (Edited by Oxford University Press), New York State Bar Association´s Corporate Counsel Journal, Florida Bar International Law Section, and others. He has additional diplomas from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, the Xiamen Academy of International Law in China and has also been invited to deliver lectures in Canada, Brazil, Germany, China and others. Mr. Aizenstatd has been included in the list of registered attorneys at the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala.Mr. Aizenstatd believes that pro bono is an important part of his practice. Therefore, he has acted as head counsel in several landmark cases before national courts in relation to important issues, such as genocide, torture and discrimination. My expertise in handicrafts relates to the many years I worked as a Tour Guide and Business Consultant for tourists visiting Guatemala every year. It wasn't until the recession hit globally these past couple of years and experiencing a downturn in tourism I realized that it was time to take a differently role which would compensate for the loss of tourism in my country.
