Renting an Apartment

The minimum lease is generally one year. The minimum period for short-term lets is 3 months

School System

School Level
Tuition and all major schooling activities are free as it is financed through the general taxes. Tuition is only charged in private schools.

The Danish education system is organized in four levels:
- Preschool starts at the age of 6 after kindergarten;
- Basic school from the age of 7 to 15-16
- Youth education from the age of 16-17 to 18-19
- Higher education from the age 19-20.

International Schools

Health System

Quality of Healthcare
Health care is organized in the public domain with a small private sector. Five regions are responsible for services within hospitals, outpatient clinics and general practice. The municipalities are responsible for homecare. As a result of the reforms, the co-operation between general practitioners, hospitals and municipalities has been strengthened to support quality in patient pathways across the sectors with a stronger focus on chronic conditions.

Accessibility of the Health Insurance Network to Foreigners
Expatriates are entitled to free, state medical care, but must obtain a Health Card. Your health card will be created when you sign on the list of all of the residents of Denmark. You will be asked to select a doctor from a list of local General Pratitioner and you will automatically be registered with their practice.
