Renting an Apartment

Description of Apartments
There are furnished appartments, part-furnished and unfurnished ones.
Normal Lease Term
Generally, contracts are for one or two years, renewable. It is possible to terminate the contract before its term for "diplomatic reasons" as long as you give two months' notice and your employer provides supporting documentation.
Rental Costs
When the contract is signed, a deposit corresponding to a month's rent is made, then within seven days another deposit corresponding to two and a half months' rent serves as a guarantee.
Agencies or Private Rentals
Going through an agent allows you to avoid the worries that go with looking for accommodation and administrative formalities, but it is not absolutely necessary.

Health System

Quality of Healthcare
The healthcare system is one of the best in the region.
International Hospitals
Going to a private clinic or hospital is recommended. There are many of them near residential areas, shopping malls and business districts.
Health Insurance
The health system is dualistic, and the public and private sectors have complementary roles. Civil servants and their families benefit from free healthcare in public hospitals and medical centers. If they are hospitalized, they contribute to expenses up to a maximum amount of 1€70.
The SOCSO, the Social Security Organization, covers 100% of medical care for private sector employees whose monthly salary is under 435€ in the event of an accident or disability, that is nearly 20% of the population.
Private sector employees whose income is over 435€ are supposed to pay their medical expenses themselves. However, in practice, employers take out private insurance for their employees.
Accessibility of the Health Insurance Network to Foreigners
The social security system is not accessible to foreigners.
