Renting an Apartment

Description of Apartments
One-bed room, Two-bed room, and so on.

Both furnished and un-furnished apartments are available.

Normal Lease Term

It is mandatory to sign a contract when an apartment is rented. This contract contains details about the apartment, in addition to the rights and obligations of tenant and landlord.

Swiss landlords expect the contract to be observed to the letter. It is true for any agreement you make in Switzerland.
Rental Costs
The cost and other guarantees depend on the terms & conditions of the lease agreement signed between the landlord and tenant. Generally a security amount equal to 1-3 months rentals is paid to the landlord. The tenant is also asked to pay the cost of drawing up the lease agreement. A 3-6 notice period is generally the norm, in case either of the two parties wants the other party to vacate the house. In the case of furnished rooms, an inventory of all items (check in the presence of the landlord whether all the items are in good order) is made.
