Advertising an 'encouraged' industry

According to Gan Lin, deputy director of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, the “innovation, planning, design and production of advertisements” have been classified under the encouraged category in the Catalogue for Guiding Industrial Restructuring (2011 version) released recently. The advertising industry will for the first time be entitled to state policy support as an encouraged industry and be given strong impetus for its future development.

Gan added that the outline plan of the 12th Five-Year Programme (FYP) has also proposed for the first time “promoting the advertising industry’s healthy growth”. The plan is a blueprint for the country’s mid-term strategic development and its guidance and clear directions for the advertising industry’s development carry special significance. Meanwhile, the modern service industry development plan under the 12th FYP now being drafted is also expected to specify the goals, major tasks and key projects for driving the advertising industry’s expansion as well as measures to protect the industry.
