Wind energy is poised to experience the highest growth rate within the sector. After adding th th 690MW of wind capacity in 2010, Canada ranks 9 in newly installed capacity and 9 in overall installed capacity worldwide. Wind energy production is expected to triple in the next five years. The total installed capacity in North America is expected to more than double to reach 94.2GW. The federal government is committed to seeing 90 percent of Canada’s electricity generated by non-emitting sources by 2020.
