General Information: Nut production will increase about 18% during 2012 in Chile, reaching the order of 46 or 47 thousand tons, according to estimates by the Nut Producers and Exporters Association of Chile (ChileNut) and revealed by their president during last week. Additionally he pointed out that an overall good quality crop is expected. Quality is one of Chile?s main export factor, which has produced exceptional prices on the world market. The president of the Association said also that exporters have not yet set base prices for the product. But as current and future policy they believe that price stability means better conditions for our customers and for our exporters in general, he said. Exports volumes are expected to reach 42 thousand tons, in 2012. Internationally ChileNut President also noted that the main task and one of the objectives of 2012, has been to diversify markets. We are accessing the UA Emirates strongly as a major new market and hopefully in the near future can incorporate Korea, Japan and other Arab countries, he explained.
