The Government of India Ministry of Agriculture has released a draft notification amending Schedule
VI of the Plant Quarantine Order 2003 (the regulation for importing plant material into India). The
draft notification proposes phytosanitary import requirements for U.S. origin walnuts (Juglans spp.)
into India, and comments are invited till December 16, 2012.
The Government of India Ministry of Agriculture has released an amendment to the Plant Quarantine
Order, 2003 (the regulation for the import of plant material into India). The draft notification seeks to
amend Schedule VI of Plant Quarantine Order 2003, to include Juglans spp. (Walnut) as ‘dry fruits for
consumption’ from United States of America, with phytosanitary import requirements with additional
declaration and special conditions. The draft notification will facilitate imports of Juglans spp.
(Walnuts) into India.
