The Government of India Ministry of Agriculture has released a draft notification amending Schedule
VI of the Plant Quarantine Order 2003 (the regulation for importing plant material into India). The
draft notification proposes to the import of Juglans spp. (Walnuts) from the United States, and will be
adopted on December 15, 2012.
The Government of India Ministry of Agriculture has released an amendment to the Plant Quarantine
Order, 2003 (the regulation for the import of plant material into India). The draft notification seeks to
amend Schedule VI of Plant Quarantine Order 2003, to include Juglans spp. (Walnut) as ‘dry fruits for
consumption’ from United States of America, with additional declaration and special conditions. The
draft notification will facilitate imports into India.
On September 21, 2012, the Ministry of Agriculture forwarded a copy of this notification to the
Ministry of Commerce so that the WTO Secretariat can be duly informed.
