The environmental industry in Ireland covers multiple areas including:

There are an estimated 18,750 people employed by enterprises operating within the various sub-
sectors of the Environmental industry. This includes approx 5,000 people employed within the
energy efficiency sub-sector on the insulation and retrofitting of homes and buildings and the
installation of energy efficient products and services. In 2010 the market size of the
environmental goods and services sector in Ireland was estimated at €3.05 billion.
The Government’s aim in this area is to meet its EU environmental commitments by 2020.

ICT skills especially in the areas of wind, solar, wave and tidal. Opportunities also exist for
