Japanese sweet cherry production is expected to decrease marginally in 2009, according to industry sources. Although the region has experienced cold temperatures during the blossoming season and bee populations have been on the decline, pollination in cherry trees and fruit settings have been good; however, much of the fruit is undersized due to the lack of sunshine in June.
