U.S. poultry meats and their derivatives are now allowed entry into Kuwait. General Information: The Government of Kuwait issued Ministerial Decree # 36/2012, dated January 10, 2012, lifting the ban on imports of U.S. poultry meat, of all types and table eggs, effective immediately. U.S. exports of poultry meat of all types are now allowed entry into Kuwait. This decree reverses decree 243/2011, dated June 10, 2011, that was issued instituting a ban on all U.S. poultry imports, except heat treated products, as a result of the detection of LP AI in the states of Missouri and Minnesota. The following is an unofficial translation of Decree 36/2012: ????Ministry of Commerce & Industry Ministers? Office Date: 10 January 2012 Decree No. (36) for 2012 Regarding lifting the ban on imports of poultry meat and its derivatives from the United States Minister of Commerce and Industry Having reviewed: the import Law number (43) for 1964 regarding the regulations that govern importing; decree of Law number (10) for 1979 regarding supervising trading in commodities and fixing the prices of some of them; the recommendation of the Food Safety Committee in its meeting number (11/2011) dating 20/12/2011; ban decree number (243/2011); based on the presentation of the ministry?s undersecretary; and based on the requirements of national interest. It has been decided Clause One To lift the ban on the imports of poultry meat (processed ? fresh ? chilled ? frozen) of all kinds and their derivates as well as table eggs from the U.S. Clause Two Any regulation that contradicts the stipulations of this decree is cancelled and all officials each in his specialization must implement this decree; it must be executed from the date of its issuance and it must be published in the official gazette.
