Hebei province has most leading starch mfg. enterprises, and among all top 100 large starch mfg. enterprises across China, 25 are located in Hebei. According to China Starch Mfg. Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Jiangsu, Henan, Guangxi and Shanghai are the secondary distribution areas for this industry.

In terms of market size, in 2009, starch mfg. enterprises above designated size achieved a sales revenue of more than USD 20 billion. Total assets of enterprises inside starch mfg. industry exceeded USD 10 billion, a rise of more than 20% on a year-on-year basis. On an annual average, total employees in starch mfg. industry exceeded 170,000, an increase of more than 10% on a year-on-year basis. The total export delivery value exceeded USD 400 million, a decline of about 30% on a year-on-year basis.
