Porous vs Non Porous Athletic Tape

A Hot Tip about Medical, Health and Cosmetics Products in the United States

We all have seen our patients return to the office after we have taped them.  The rashy, scaling, erythema, edema and maceration under the tape. Most of us don't even know that the tape we are using is probably nonporous. Non porous athletic tape doesn't allow the skin to breathe. The skin gets macerated due to sweat and showers. The water is then trappped under the athletic tape for a prolonged period of time causing macerated skin. The macerated skin is then more permaeable and prone to damage from friction, irritation and latex.

Atlas Biomechanics offers a porous, latex free athletic tape call Cramer 950 Porous Athletic Tape. The Cramer 950 Porous Athletic Tape allows the skin to breathe, thus decreasing maceration and contact dermatitis.

Our Cramer 950 Porous Athletic Tape is highly porous, is latex free, and has a zinc oxide coating, and excellent tensile strength.  Our college level athletic trainers swear by it.
