Indonesia has more than 220 million populations of which more than 60 % of the total population relies on agriculture. It is also South East Asia’s largest economy. These demographics indicated considerable potential for British companies operating in the agriculture sector.

The Government policy allowing foreign investors to operate a plantation has attracted numerous investments and leads to a 10.6% growth in 2008. The country’s excellent soils and substantial land area have created an opportunity to form a strong ground in building the country’s potential, although foreign investment will be highly needed. With such investment the country will be able to create a positive outcome from this sector.
